Wedged Between Winter + Spring

Looking for some cute criss-cross espadrille wedges for spring? I am. I need to get out of this winter weather. Stat. Today is all rain in NYC. I guess that's closer to spring. Well, nothing eases the winter blahs like looking at spring shoes. And...it's almost March finally...tomorrow.

Look how cute with the swans!

We're going in early spring so I'm sure it will rain. And somehow we'll have to stay chic and dry:

Valentines Day Dinner! Pappardelle with Crab and Tomato Sauce

Last week we had Valentines Day dinner. Pretty same as any other dinner but I wanted to combine something the hubs loves (pasta) with something a bit more special (crab). I used pappardelle (pretty pasta ribbons) instead of our usual spaghetti or penne.

The tomato sauce below was tasty. But it also ended up stealing the crab's thunder a bit so I adjusted my seasonings for the recipe below.

To My Furry Valentine...

The furry Valentine gets a lot of photo love on this blog. Today, I'm pulling out some oldies but goodies from a year ago when he was still puppy and less annoying adolescent (for example, I tried to give him a good old fashioned snuggle this morning and he got up and walked to the other side of the couch, that bastard). There is no love in my home.

Good Eats NYC: Hill Country BBQ or Meat Won. I Lost.

Piles of meat will defeat any person. Including lil ol' me. Why am I even talking about this? Recently my team wanted to go to dinner to celebrate my boss' big move to a new group. Typically a team dinner might include drinks, a couple courses, etc. Not my team. They like eating contests. Once they went out and ate wings until the 2nd place winner was sweating bullets. Another time some of them went out to do the "hottest curry in America" challenge.

This time was all you can eat BBQ. See below.
That is exactly how the $25 All You Can Eat Mondays works. Platters of meat. For normal people, you'd get just the one platter which is about 4 lbs of food. But for *my* coworkers, we had 4 trays of 4 lbs of food. REALLY? We had about 12 people. Our waiter Travis claims most groups do 1 or 2 trays but we maxed out at 4. The all you can eat trough includes beef brisket, pork ribs, and bbq chicken. Meat "refills" come in large packets of kraft paper.

Roasted Curry Honey Cauliflower

This is one tasteasy side dish (get it, tasty + easy? Anyhoo...)
The recipe isn't very exact because I winged it...that's what I love about cooking (v. baking). Adjust the seasoning to taste as you mix the ingredients.

Good Eats NYC: Le Relais de Venise L'Entrecote

On a day off from work, the hubs and I took a day trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Having lived in New York for almost 4 years now, I still hadn't been even though the hubs grew up in the neighborhood AND I get free tickets from work (a $20 value).

I had a craving for French things so we spent most of our time ogling the Impressionist galleries. I felt transported back to Paris with this Monet.
Staying on the Parisian theme, we went to Le Relais de Venise L'Entrecote which is supposed to be an exact replica of the one in Paris near the Champs-Elysees (I've been. And I can't remember). The waitresses are dressed neatly in all black uniforms, the decor is Venetian murals (just like the original).
