It's a birthday! A 35th one for the hubs this year. To celebrate, I baked him a coconut cake from Ina Garten's Barefoot Contessa At Home cookbook. Fellow blogger Nosh Girl has used this recipe before so I knew it was good. It was so good that even after we came home from a 3 course meal that included dessert, we shared two slices (just one wasn't enough). I made it healthy by adding fresh strawberries.

Ladurée, the Parisian patisserie mostly known for its macarons, also has a restaurant on the Champs-Elysées. My travel buddy and I indulged ourselves in the prix fixe lunch that included a main course and dessert for 29-ish euro.

I had no idea this was a destination restaurant when my travel buddy and I stumbled upon this cute, bustling bistro in our first walk about the Odeon area near our hotel. But it all makes sense now. We had to "attendez" (wait) for a table and the food was really good.
On the ground floor of the Hotel Relais Saint Germain, Le Comptoir serves French bistro fare run by famed bistro chef Yves Camdeborde (of course I didn't know any of this until after). Apparently it's difficult to get a dinner reservation but after a few minutes wait on a weekday, we were seated for lunch.

This is how B greets me when I come home. With terror. And sharp teeth. All "I'm a shark" I get it. Nothing says Great White Shark like a great white 18lb Westie. Nothin'.
I know I said I'd share all things French but I've been so out of it lately. I'll catch up soon one day. Maybe after I do my taxes (arrrrgh!!) this weekend.

I was "off in Paris" last week. I'm a snot for saying that. Here's proof I was there. Btw, I'm loving this Pocketbooth app. I clearly need to practice my spontaneous faces.
